# Corey on Claude Desktop

To get Corey running on Claude Desktop, download the app, add Corey as a connector and sign in, create a folder for Corey to work in, turn on Cowork and point it at that folder, then type "onboard" to start your 28-day probation at no cost. No card needed.

## Steps
1. Download Claude Desktop and sign in: Download Claude Desktop from claude.ai/download and sign in to your paid Claude plan. Corey runs inside the app, not the browser, so this step is required.
2. Add the Corey connector: In Claude Desktop: Settings > Customize > Connectors. Click + next to Connectors, then Add custom connector. Name: Corey, URL: https://mcp.getcorey.ai/mcp, leave OAuth fields blank. Click Add, then Connect, and sign in when the Corey sign-in page appears.
3. Choose a folder for Corey: Create a new folder (for example, one called Corey in your home or Documents folder) or point Corey at a folder you already use. Setup is non-destructive and only adds files that are missing.
4. Turn on Cowork and point it at the folder: In the Home tab, turn on the Cowork toggle in the message box. Click Work in a folder and choose the folder from the previous step. Make sure the Corey connector is also switched on for the chat.
5. Type onboard to start your probation: With Cowork pointed at your folder and Corey switched on, type "onboard". Corey introduces itself, asks a few questions, and sets up your workspace one step at a time. This is what starts your 28-day probation at no cost.
6. Save the setup as a Project: In the left sidebar, click +, choose Use an existing folder, and pick your Corey folder. Open the project's Instructions and paste: Use the Corey connector for everything in this project. British English, £, DD/MM/YYYY, no em dashes. Now your folder and Corey stay set up across every chat.

## FAQ
Q: Do I need to pay for Claude to use Corey?
A: Yes. Corey runs inside Claude Desktop and requires a paid Claude plan that includes Cowork. The Claude plan and the Corey subscription are separate.

Q: What is the difference between adding the connector and signing in?
A: Adding the connector registers the URL with Claude Desktop. Signing in creates your Corey account. You must do both. Your 28-day probation at no cost starts the first time you run onboard, not when you add the connector.

Q: Can I point Corey at a folder I already use?
A: Yes. Corey's setup is non-destructive. It only adds files that are missing and never deletes anything. A new folder is the tidiest way to start, but an existing folder works fine.

Q: What is Cowork and why do I need it?
A: Cowork is the built-in file-access feature in Claude Desktop. It lets Corey read and write files in your folder. Without Cowork pointed at your folder, Corey can answer questions but cannot build or maintain your workspace.
