# Claude on mobile - what actually works, and what needs your laptop awake

Claude Cowork runs on iOS and Android on Pro, Max and Team plans. Remote connectors and skills work on the phone. Local files and local MCP servers do not, unless the Claude desktop app is open on your computer - then a cloud session can reach your connected folders.

## Steps
1. Check your plan covers it: Cowork on mobile is available on Pro, Max and Team plans, and on Enterprise where an admin has enabled it. If you already run Claude on a paid plan you almost certainly have it.
2. Install or update the Claude app: Open Claude for iOS or Claude for Android and update to the current version. Cowork appears inside the existing app rather than as a separate download.
3. Add your remote connectors at claude.ai: Connectors are added once at claude.ai in Settings, then follow your account to every surface including the phone. A remote MCP server is added by its HTTPS URL.
4. Decide what your phone needs to reach: If you only need methods and knowledge, a remote connector is enough and nothing else is required. If you need your own files, they must be in a folder connected on your computer.
5. Leave the desktop app open for file access: A cloud session can read and write files in folders you have connected on your computer only while the desktop app is open on that computer. Shut the laptop and file access stops.
6. Use the phone for capture, not production: Catch the idea, ask the question, start the thread. Do the building at a desk where you have the files, the screen and the patience.

## FAQ
Q: Does Claude Cowork work on mobile?
A: Yes. Cowork runs on the Claude for iOS and Claude for Android apps, alongside desktop, web and the Claude in Chrome side panel. It is available on Pro, Max and Team plans, and on Enterprise plans where an administrator has enabled it.

Q: Do connectors and skills work in Cowork on mobile?
A: Remote ones do. Connectors and skills are both supported on mobile. The exception is local: Anthropic's documentation states that local connectors and plugins which include local MCP servers work through the desktop app only. A connector served over HTTPS is remote and is unaffected.

Q: Can Claude read my files from my phone?
A: Only while your computer is awake and running the desktop app. Anthropic's documentation states that a cloud session can read and write files in folders you have connected on your computer only while the desktop app is open on that computer. Close the laptop and the files go out of reach until it is open again.

Q: Why can Corey be used from a phone when other setups cannot?
A: Because Corey is deliberately built in two halves. Its skills and knowledge are served from a remote MCP server, so they travel to whatever Claude you sign into, including the phone. Your business context stays in a plain-text folder you own on your own machine. Nothing had to be re-engineered for mobile because the two were never merged in the first place.

Q: What should I actually do on my phone?
A: Capture rather than build. A phone is excellent at catching a thought before it disappears and terrible at sustained work. Start the thread, ask the question, record the decision, then pick it up at a desk where you have the files and the screen.
