Privacy and your data
Corey reads and writes only the files in your Corey folder and any directories you explicitly approve. It does not have background access to your computer, does not store your business data on Corey servers, and pauses for your approval before any action that is public, involves money, or is irreversible. See the full privacy policy at getcorey.ai/privacy.
Corey is built so your data stays yours. Your business knowledge and the work Corey produces live as plain files in a folder on your own computer, not on Corey servers, and Corey pauses for your approval before anything public, money-related or irreversible. This page explains how that works in practice. For the authoritative policy, see the full privacy policy.
What Corey can and cannot access
Corey reads and writes only the files in your Corey folder and any directories you explicitly approve through Cowork in Claude Desktop. File access is granted by you, per folder - not at install time and not silently.
Corey does not have background access to your computer. It cannot reach system files outside the folders you approve, other applications, your microphone or camera, your browser history, or your keychain and saved credentials. To use email, calendar or other tools, you connect them explicitly, and Corey uses only the access you grant.
The approval model
Corey proposes; you approve. Read-only steps - reading a file, searching the web, checking your calendar - run freely. Anything that is public (goes out to customers, social or the web), involves money (payments, invoices, contracts), or is irreversible waits for your explicit approval.
Corey does not act unilaterally on sensitive actions. See best practices for how to set these guardrails.
Your business data and conversations
Your business data lives in your Corey folder on your own machine. It is not uploaded to or stored on Corey servers. The Corey connector handles only what is needed to authenticate you and route your request.
Because Corey runs inside Claude, your conversations are processed by Anthropic under Anthropic’s privacy policy and the terms of your Claude plan. Whether conversations are used to improve models, and how to control that, is governed by Anthropic’s settings and policies, not by Corey. We do not use the content of your work to train AI models.
Running Corey on a server and your rights
If you run Corey on your own server (for example a VPS), the Corey folder lives on that machine and only people you give access to can reach it. Keep secrets in a secrets manager rather than in plain files on disk, and remember that if that server processes other people’s personal data, you are the controller for it and responsible for your own GDPR compliance.
Under UK and EU law you can ask us to access, correct, erase or port your personal data, and you can object to or restrict processing. Email kristian@pressonetwork.com for any data request.
